the 4th

I always forget to read up on the best settings for capturing fireworks until it's too late! And of course I'm never in a place where I can use a tripod.  I experimented with really slow shutter speeds, higher ones, and ones in the middle. It's been interesting to see the results.

I will admit that I enjoyed taking these. Our 2 year old Addie, on the other hand, decided it was safest to return to her car seat and wait out the VERY loud fireworks there! Right as they started the finale, my camera battery died. There was no more! Thankfully, I did get the one above right as it died. I hope you had a blessed 4th!

This is my creative outlet. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I currently shoot with a Canon 5D and primarily a 28-75mm 2.8 lens or a 50mm 1.4 lens. I love landscapes, flowers, and architecture; but my ultimate goal is to be able to take great pictures of my little girls. I want to capture the expressions, the quickly fleeting moments, and document the blessings of our amazing God! His mercies are new every morning...

...these are a few of my favorite things.
